Almost every moving company works nine to five, which is exactly when most of their customers work too. We work seven days a week from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and an evening slot is priced the same as any other — it is a normal booking here, not an after-hours surcharge. Evening moves typically start between 5:00 and 7:00 PM and run until the job is done.
What fits in an evening window
A four-hour evening realistically covers a studio or one-bedroom move within the same part of the DMV, a loading or unloading shift on a rental truck, a furniture delivery, or packing help for a couple of rooms. Larger moves are better split across an evening and the following morning, or booked for a weekend — we will tell you which when we quote rather than starting something at 7 PM that needs six hours.
The constraint is usually your building, not us
Many DMV apartment buildings restrict move hours to weekday business hours, and some close the loading dock at 5 or 6 PM. Before you book an evening, ask your property manager what hours moves are permitted. If evenings are not allowed, weekend mornings are usually the answer, and rowhouses, single-family homes and street-level units generally have no such restriction.
Working in the dark, safely
From late autumn an evening move in the DMV happens after sunset. That changes the plan: we bring work lighting, we scout the walk from the vehicle to the door before carrying anything, and we are deliberate about stairs, thresholds and curbs. If a route genuinely cannot be lit well enough to be safe, we will say so.

Do you charge more for evenings?
No. Evenings are our normal working window, so they are billed at standard rates.
How late can you work?
Our standard evening window ends at 10:00 PM. Later finishes are not something we advertise, partly because most buildings and most neighbours would not thank us for it.
Will my building let you move me in the evening?
Many will not. Ask your property manager what hours moves are permitted before you choose a date — it is the single most common reason an evening booking has to change.
Can you do an evening move at short notice?
We do not currently advertise same-day or last-minute moving. Send a request and we will tell you honestly what is available.
