About us

An educator-led moving company in the DMV

Teachers Who Move is a small, locally operated moving service built around your schedule and the kind of moves most companies price out of reach.

How this started

Teachers Who Move began with a simple conversation between educators: teachers have skills people trust—organization, patience, communication and a commitment to serving their communities. Why not bring those qualities into an industry where customers often feel stressed and uncertain?

The idea grew into an educator-led moving service designed around the realities of life in the DMV. Our goal is to provide careful, dependable moving help while creating flexible earning opportunities for educators and giving something back to local classrooms after every completed move.

Being an educator does not make someone a mover

It is worth saying plainly, because the opposite claim would be easy to make and would not be true. Teaching does not teach you to carry a sofa down a stairwell. What it does teach is preparation, patience, clear communication and taking responsibility for how something turns out — and those are the parts of a move that customers most often find missing.

Every crew member completes moving, lifting, equipment, safety and customer-service training before they accept an assignment. The skills come from the training. The care comes from the classroom.

What we stand for

Four things we hold ourselves to

Organized

We approach every move with a clear plan. You know the arrival window, the crew and the sequence before the day.

Communicative

You know what happens before, during and after the move, and you get it in writing.

Patient

We take time to understand your priorities — which room, which items matter, what you are worried about.

Community-minded

Every completed move helps support DMV classrooms.

Where the business is today

Teachers Who Move is new. We would rather tell you that than pretend otherwise with invented review counts and badges we have not earned. What we can tell you today is accurate: we are educator-led, locally operated, we give clear written estimates, we select crews carefully, and every crew member is trained before working a job. As we complete moves, obtain credentials and collect genuine customer reviews, they will appear on this site — and not a day before.

Supporting classrooms

Teachers Who Move puts $20 from every completed move toward classroom supplies and support for local teachers in the DMV. It comes out of what we earn, never added to your bill.

Teachers Who Move is a for-profit business, not a nonprofit. Your payment is for moving services, and neither your payment nor our contribution is tax-deductible for you.
