Apartment Moves
Apartment and Condo Movers Across the DMV
Apartment moves are not small versions of house moves. They are logistics problems: a reserved elevator with a two-hour window, a loading dock that closes at six, a certificate of insurance the property manager wants before anyone touches the freight elevator, and a narrow stairwell that decides whether your sofa fits. We plan around those constraints first, because that is what actually determines whether your move goes well.
Building rules come first
Most DMV apartment buildings require you to reserve the freight elevator or service entrance, and many restrict move-in hours — commonly nine to five on weekdays, sometimes with weekend windows. Some require a certificate of insurance from your movers before they will let a crew in. Ask your property manager three things as soon as you have a date: what hours moves are allowed, whether the elevator must be reserved, and what documentation they require from a moving company. Send us the answers and we will build the plan around them.
Any hour your building allows
We work seven days a week, from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM, so you can book a time that fits your job rather than taking a day off for ours. Your building may not allow moves in every one of those hours. If it does not, tell us early — we would rather adjust the plan than have a crew turned away at the loading dock.
The measurements that matter
Before move day, measure the narrowest doorway, the tightest stairwell turn, and the elevator opening if you have one. Then measure your largest piece — usually a sofa, a mattress or a wardrobe. Sectional sofas and sleeper sofas are the most common items that will not make a turn. Knowing in advance means we plan a disassembly or a different route rather than discovering the problem with the item halfway up the stairs.

Questions
Apartment Moves — frequently asked
Do you reserve the elevator for me?
No — reservations are made by the resident or the property manager, and most buildings will only take them from you. Tell us the window you reserved and we will build the move around it.
My building requires a certificate of insurance. Can you provide one?
Tell us during the quote process and we will tell you plainly what we can document today. We do not claim coverage we cannot evidence, and we would rather lose a booking than have a crew turned away at your dock.
Can you move me on a weekday evening?
We are available weekday evenings from 5:00 PM, but many buildings do not permit moves after 5:00 PM. Check with your property manager first — if evenings are not allowed, weekend mornings are usually your best option.
What if my sofa will not fit through the door?
We measure and plan before move day when you give us the dimensions. If a piece truly will not fit, your options are legs-off disassembly, a different route, or leaving it behind — and we will tell you which is realistic before you are paying us by the hour to find out.
Do you move between units in the same building?
Yes, and it is one of the fastest, cheapest bookings we do. The two-hour labor-only minimum usually covers it.
